Adsorption and decomposition of nickelocene on Ag(100): a high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and temperature programmed desorption study

چکیده
Nickelocene adsorption and decomposition on the Ag(1 0 0) surface were studied with temperature programmed desorption and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy. At monolayer coverages on the relatively inert Ag(1 0 0) surface at 175 K, nickelocene physisorbs molecularly, with its molecular axis perpendicular to the surface plane. Nickelocene begins decomposing to adsorbed cyclopentadienyl and nickel at 225 K. Molecular desorption is only observed from multilayer material, at 210 K, or from the fi rst monolayer if adjacent surface sites for decomposition are not available. The cyclopentadienyl decomposes through disproportionation to cyclopentadiene, which desorbs, and adsorbed nickel and carbon fragments on the Ag(1 0 0) surface with a maximum at 525 K.

Ammonia adsorption and decomposition on the GaAs ( 100 ) - c ( 8 X 2 ) surface
The effect of ammonia exposure and substrate temperature on the reaction of ammonia with GaAs(lOO)-c(8 x 2) has been studied using temperature programmed desorption (TPD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). TPD data indicate that thermal decomposition of ammonia occurs at moderate temperatures (250 K). Above 250 K, recombinati...
متن کاملOrientation of nickelocene on Ag(100)
High-resolution electron-energy-loss spectroscopy has been used to study the molecular adsorption of nickelocene, Ni(C5H5)2, on Ag(100). Results indicate that at up to one monolayer coverage, nickelocene adsorbs molecularly with its axis approximately perpendicular to the surface. At very high coverages, the molecular axis is not exclusively oriented along the surface normal. This is possibly d...
متن کاملAdsorption of Formaldehyde on Nickel Oxide Studied by Thermal Programmed Desorption and High-Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy
Formaldehyde adsorption on NiO( 100) ultrathin films grown on a Mo(100) surface has been studied using combined thermal desorption and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopies (HREELS). The results show that formaldehyde adsorbs molecularly on NiO( 100) film at 90 K and that concurrent polymerization of formaldehyde occurs extensively in the 90-270 K temperature range. Monomeric form...

The adsorption and reaction of formic acid, HCOOH, on monolayer and multilayer palladium supported on a Mo(110) surface have been studied using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). On multilayer palladium, formic acid adsorbs molecularly at 100 K and desorbs primarily intact upon heating to 200 K. A small amount of the adsorbed ...

Interactions of ammonia with well-defined NiO( 100) films prepared on Mo( 100) have been investigated using combined high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS)/temperature-programmed esorption (TPD). The results show that ammonia is bonded to the surface cations of NiO(100) via the nitrogen lone pair of the molecules, with an accompanying transfer of electrons to the surface cat...
